Become a Member of SBP!

The Society of Black Pathology (SBP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing barriers to diversity and inclusion, working to increase the number of Black and underrepresented minorities in pathology, providing mentorship to support career and leadership development, and expanding research in the area of healthcare disparities.

SBP offers four membership categories.

Pathologiest Team

Attending (voting): $100
Attending Members shall be individuals in one of two categories:
(1) laboratory professionals who routinely work in laboratories including but not limited to those in anatomic, clinical, and public health laboratories
(2) pathologists who have completed residency training in anatomic and/or clinical pathology and are either in practice as attending pathologists or have retired from practice as an attending pathologist. This category shall include those who have practiced independently and obtained an Attending Member status through training and professional practice but have opted to undergo additional training.

Each Attending Member shall be entitled to one vote.

Affiliate (non-voting): $50
Affiliate Members shall be reserved for individuals not meeting criteria for Attending, Trainee, or Student member classification, including but not limited to outside entities who wish to support the corporation.

Each Affiliate Member shall not be entitled to vote.

Trainee (voting): Free
Trainee Members shall be individuals in one of two categories:
(1) those who are in the process of training in a laboratory professional program
(2) those who are in the process of training in an anatomic and/or clinical pathology residency or in a pathology subspecialty fellowship training program. Those who have practiced independently and return to training shall be considered Attending Members.

Each Trainee Member shall be entitled to one vote.

Student (non-voting): Free
Medical Student Members are individuals enrolled in Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited medical schools. Student Members shall be individuals enrolled in National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS)-accredited programs, Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)-accredited medical schools, or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-accredited medical schools.

Each Student Member shall not be entitled to vote.
